Happy Mother's Day

Praise be Jesus Christ, now and forever.

As you read this it is Mother's Day. As we pray for our mothers we need to recognize that there are children everywhere, but clearly here in Flint, who do not know what it means to have a mother's love. We not only need to pray for these children, but I also believe we need to try to help these children. Two ways that this parish is ministering to our children in need is: St. John Vianney School and St. Luke's N.E.W. Life Center. We offer scholarships to St. John Vianney School. It is not a normal school. It is a school based upon the love of Jesus Christ. We educate these children, but more importantly we always insist that these children come to know our Lord Jesus Christ. Knowledge and love always go together.

We also support the ministry at St. Luke's. At St. Luke's we recognize that it is essentially also a school. Men and women come to St. Luke's to grow in knowledge. Perhaps they need to learn about good parenting and nutrition for their children. They surely need to grow in self knowledge and self-awareness. They also need to get secure employment and home stability. Both these schools are based upon prayer, respect and the continuing Grace of the Holy Spirit. At the core we teach LOVE! Love must be taught. I would like to suggest that you read the First Letter of John. It really is not that long and it conveys our mandate from Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Holy Mary, Mother of Flint, pray for us to know your love.

You are all in my prayers and heart.

Fr. Tom
